Where does the okapi live?

The Okapi (Okapia johnstoni) is a rare and elusive mammal that is native to the dense forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo, specifically in the Ituri Forest of central Africa. They are also sometimes referred to as "forest giraffes" because of their long necks and striped legs, but they are actually more closely related to zebras than giraffes. The okapi is a solitary and mostly nocturnal animal that feeds on leaves, fruits, and fungi, and is known for being very elusive and difficult to spot in the wild.
